No. LX tape is usually a PVC electrical-style tape used for colour coding, cable identification, marking and general backstage organisation. Gaffer tape is cloth-based and better suited to securing cables, temporary repairs and stage use.

What tape should I use for microphone fitting?

For microphone fitting or skin-contact applications, medical-style tapes such as Transpore, Micropore or similar specialist mic tapes are usually more suitable than standard gaffer or PVC tape.
